The domain “Le Capitaine : a family story
To plant vines, when your parents are not working in the wine industry seems to be a difficult challenge to face.
In 1988, a wine maker from Rochecorbon, a parish located within the Vouvray appellation, saw me as young motivated and pretty determined to lead my own domain one day.
He allowed me to rent his 1,6 ares of vines, providing me with his full trust while I was still working for a very well-known domain.
In 1995, my brother Christophe joined me, giving a hand to set up what will become a family business.
We were so happy to get the opportunity to work together blending our skills.
Today we are still leading the domain together with an increase of 20 hectares from the best terroirs : 1re cotes de Rochecorbon.
We’re vinificating separately each plot, tasting them before practicing the art of blending if necessary.
Our cellar was born a long time ago, from the need to extract the famous Touraine limestone called “tuffeau”.
The tuffeau stone were used to build houses and the loire valley famous castles such as Chenonceaux. |
